Description of Challenge

Spelling bees will be held in a location designated by ACE.

ACE will provide with practice spelling lists at (softlink to resources – spelling list)

Based on their performance points (softlink to Peformance Point System), students can challenge not only at their own grade level students but also against advanced grade level students.

All students will be called in front of the audience.

Each student will be asked to spell a word by the judge. They will be provided upon request:

- The word’s part of speech
- Usage of the word in a sentence
- The origin language of the word

Each challenger will be given three strikes. Upon achieving the strikes, the challenger will be eliminated from the round.

The last two challengers remaining will be in a sudden-death round. Their will be a coin toss to determine who goes first. The first challenger to win a round will receive first place and the other challenger will get second place.

Eligibility Criteria

This event is a competitive and fun academic tournament designed specifically for 3rd to 10th graders

Everyone who aspires to excel in an academic field is encouraged to participate.

Awards

First place will receive a trophy

Second and Third place will receive a ribbon

Every student will receive a participation certificate
